Summary

# Summary
TBD is a story that meshes the story and characters of Sonic the Hedgehog with mechanics and themes of Call of Cthulhu and Lovecraft. The player will have the customization of a CoC TTRPG sheet (name, sex, stats, skills) and be dropped in a chaotic, horrific time in the Sonic universe. The player will work with what remains of the Acorn Kingdom to save the land from destruction.

The character creation should be very open-ended, similar to CoC. The player should be able to select race and sex. Sex scenes should be planned for both male and female characters.


# Gameplay
The story will be written in the Naninovel engine and be in visual novel format.

## Character Sheet
The player will have an open-ended character sheet that they will fill out at the beginning of the game. This character sheet will be based off of CoC 7th edition. Players will be able to point-buy their stats and skills from separate pools. The player will also be able to select their character's affiliation from a list: Sander or Plainer. The player's occupation will be automatically chosen based on the stats and skills that they have selected.

## Flavor Toast Indicators
The player's character sheet, choices, and skill check outcomes will sometimes influence the story. When a part of the story comes up that is affected by the player's current run toast popups will show up giving the player a hint as to why the current story event might be happening. These toast indicators are meant to give hints to the behind-the-scenes logic of which scenes to show and to encourage the player to try things differently to experience new scenes.

A few examples:
- A player has a large size stat, which means a blast that would knock them over otherwise won't be as effective and they'll be able to see what direction someone ran away. "Size" tag will show up.
- A player has a high enough skill in medicine which allows them to understand a medical chart placed in front of them, giving them more dialog options with the medical professional. "Medical" tag will show up.
- Amy lives to the end of the game, prompting the player to ask Tails how he could leave her behind. "Amy" tag will show up.
- Player found Zest's journal, letting them mention this to Violet. "Zest's Journal" tag will show up.

# Factions
## Acorn Kingdom
Old kingdom situated in the Great Forest that's been there for multiple generations. The Acorn Kingdom had always had a feud with Robotroplois and Robotnik, but after repeated cases of Robotnik going after the chaos emeralds for nefarious purposes King Acorn appointed a personal guard whose task was to defend the chaos emeralds. This worsened the feud, and led to the king and queen being assassinated, along with most of the Emerald Guard. It is now ruled by Queen Sally, daughter of the old rulers, who has a vindictive drive to take down Robotnik.

## Emerald Guard
Special force created by King Acorn to help protect the chaos emeralds from Robotnik.

## Cult of The Black Goat
Cult that worships The Black Goat as her presence on Mobius grows day by day. They work to stop anyone who would stop her takeover of Mobius, regardless of what side they're fighting against. Their leader is Violet the Rabbit, Seer of The Void, who leads her followers to spread the Pools of Life throughout Mobius. She dyes her fur from brown to black and wears a headdress with great horns in the image of their great one. They also kidnap Mobians and forcibly impregnate them both with the follower's seed and the seed of the ich monsters to grow the cult and the power of The Black Goat. Preys on vulnerable people throughout Mobius to gain spies when possible.

## The Black Goat and her Brood
In the vast, dark, and unreachable spans of outer space The Mother's tendrils reach out slowly, taking aim at inhabited worlds to craft the organic life to her own desires. Her reach is slow yet unyielding. Planets that catch the square eye of The Mother can only watch in horror as her tendrils consume their world. Robotnik's portal has opened a rift that will allow The Mother to expand her grasp to even more planets, quicker than she thought, but the immense power of the chaos emeralds call to her. They are something that she rarely sees -- something unique, something new, something that she will be able to take and craft into special children.

The brood of The Mother take many forms, but on Mobius they commonly work by infesting a host body. Once infested, the body loses all its memories, but the brood have found that just the fleshy shell of the creatures are enough to lure other, similar creatures to them. Although their general confusion at general knowledge and blacked out eyes betray their corruption with a proper inspection, gaining the appearance, sounds, and smells of the host allows them to capture clean bodies for their own use. Some brood choose to infest the other body right away, while others choose to play with their food and torment and rape the victim until the brood is ready to infest the host. Some hosts, especially those of fit body and mind, will be able to resist the infestation of the brood. Even when people resist the brood still inhabits them, fighting them for the use of their body until they eventually win and consume the original host.

## Robotropolis Remnants
Robotic and organic citizens of Robotroplis that were locked out of their home when the force field went up. Now refugees, they have fled to the Acorn Kingdom, frontier towns, and wherever they can find haven. Some are looking for their families, some are looking for answers, most are doing their best to survive after having their lives uprooted.

## Frontiersmen
Frontiersmen come from all walks of life, and they all have their own reasons for leaving their old lives behind, but they're all looking for one thing now: finding new opportunities to create a new life.

## Mercenaries
Mercenaries are hired guns, cheats, and assassins. The opportunities as a mercenary have greatly expanded since the northern expansion, and those that are looking for easy money in less than moral ways have proven themselves to be a necessary evil in an uncertain world.


# Characters
## Player
The player is a frontiersman that's travelled to the northern edge of the great forest, near to the plains. A great well of ichor opened in the middle of their village and kidnapped everyone.

## Sonic The Hedgehog
Hero of Acorn Kingdom. Worked with Tails to open the wormhole that Robotnik was sucked into in 3240. Was almost sucked into the portal himself but was saved at the last moment by Tails and Amy. While his body remains here on Mobius, his mind has been stolen by The Black Goat and is being held in the Hall Of Doors. Sonic's body is being kept alive and healthy by Tails.

## Countess Amy Rose
Capable and strong leader, was second in command to Queen Sally. Was turned insane from witnessing the realm beyond the portal and seeing Sonic's mind being torn out. This also led to her being partially corrupted by The Black Goat's ichor, although for reasons unknowable by anyone on Mobius she hasn't turned like any of the other victims. In reality, she's being kept alive by The Black Goat as a plaything that she tortures in multiple ways that she chooses.

## Miles Prower
Genius inventor. Used the chaos emeralds to create a wormhole to get rid of Robotnik forever. After being fried by Robotnik this generator opened a portal to The Outer Void and welcomed The Black Goat to Mobius. Tails was only able to partially destroy the generator, knocking loose three of the seven chaos emeralds. While the three emeralds scattered themselves to unknown locations the four emeralds left are powering the generator, allowing The Black Goat to spread her ichor and corrupt this planet. Tails feels personally responsible for both the situation of Mobius and of Sonic and Amy and works relentlessly towards fixing them and destroying his generator.

## Knuckles
Mercenary. Stuck in Robotropolis.

## Queen Sally
Ruler of the Acorn Kingdom after her father was turned into a monster shortly after The Opening. She does her best to maintain order with the Mobians that are willing to follow her, keep the monsters at bay, and work at making peace with Robotnik's leftover forces.

## General Antoine D'Collette
Antoine has gone through a large amount of personal growth the last few years and has gained courage to lead Queen Sally's forces. He has made a name for himself of being a solid tactician and willing to fight when it counts. His actions have earned him respect from many, although his flamboyant attitude still causes most to dismiss him at first.

## Captain Bunny Rabbot
Head of the Frontier Program, in charge of all planning and organizing of northern colonies. She's rough around the edges and doesn't always agree with Antoine or Sally, but has a strong sense of duty in protecting all mobians. Has a soft spot for Tails and tries to keep him company when she can.

## Knuckles the Echidna
One of the surviving Emerald Guard that was helping Tails and Sonic stop Robotnik from building his death laser. Was trapped in the city, badly wounded, when the shield went up.

## The Oracle (Sticks)
Sticks had always had a sixth sense for mythos, but when The Black Goat entered this world she touched Sticks' mind and gave her glimpses into a vase expanse she was not prepared for. She spends her time sequestered away, meditating and attempting to process the horrifying endless expanse of space she's had a glimpse into. Her only clothing is a grass skirt. She is otherwise nude and paints archaic designs and symbols on her skin with grey ash.

## Rouge & Shadow
After The Opening Rouge & Shadow decided to open up their mercenary business. This allows them to use their time and energy as they see fit. They've accumulated quite a bit of expertise with dealing with the Ich Monsters and often take jobs escorting people through ich infested areas for research and search/rescue.

## Doctor Monty the Horse
Medical doctor that's the medical advisor and general doctor for the military forces. No-nonsense demeanor, but overall a good-natured man.

## Ella the Deer
Perky, flirtatious deer that assists the doctor in the MedBay as a nurse. Has a crush on Tails.

## Koby the Bandicoot (Strike the Echidna)
Disguise artist that uses his skills to commit heists against banks, casinos, and any other targets with valuable items. Hired by Robotnik to distract Knuckles and prevent him from finding out how Robotnik is using him to fight Sonic again.

## Chase the Leopard
Young, energetic Leopard that joined the Acorn Kingdom after a battle between Sonic and Robotnik's forces heavily damaged his village nearby.

## Archie the Otter
Spunky, cocky otter that's a specialist in the water.

## Rosie The Rabbit
Scout for the kingdom, serving under Bunnie. Quick and quiet. Uses dyes to color her fur camoflauge colors. Was the scout that was sent to confirm that the player's village was attacked. While she didn't find anything concrete, she has an aptitude for the paranormal and felt something wrong and evil about the "abandoned" village.

## The Black Goat
The dark mother, a perverse fertility deity that resides in The Outer Void. She has the appearance of a goat, four eyes which are voids of purple, large breasts and hips, and tentacles that sprout from her sides and legs. The milk of the mother, a dark liquid that seeps eternally from her nipples, pools at her feet. A being with immense power, her tentacle appendages reach out through the universe and pull any living beings towards her. They are forced inside of her womb and ejected as one of her young, violent and lustful beings that work to spread her ichor and influence throughout the galaxy.

## Violet the Rabbit, Seer Of The Void
Violet was a scrapper in the Badlands, the harsh terrain and harsh conditions of her life giving her a hardened will that only a difficult life can.

# Monsters
## Black Ich
Black substance that oozes from special portals connected to The Black Goat and from wounds on stalkers. If enough of it gathers in one place it can become a sentient blob. Fire is one of the best ways to cleanse black ick.

## Blob
Sticky, semi-sentient blob of black ich that will seek out nearby hosts and attempt to infest them. Their small size make them easy enough to kill via fire or by inflicting enough blunt force trauma, but their size and consistency also makes it easy for them to slip away through cracks and grates.

## Stalker
Mobians that have been infested by worms or mutated into a creeper after being pulled into the ich. While they are still Mobian-shaped, they naturally produce ich which drips from their skin. If enough creepers join together they will melt into each other and form an ich pool. If a creeper lives for too long they use up all their life essence and wither away. They will seek out nearby non-infected Mobians and attempt to rape them and infect them with their ich. Longer-lived creepers will tentacles grow from many places on their body which they can use to either hold Mobians with or to rape them with.

## Tank
Rarely seen but extremely dangerous. Tanks are mutated Mobian that grow up to multiple times their original size and develop immense strength. Very difficult to injure, let alone kill. Tanks have fully functioning genitalia and will rape other creatures for fun, both infested and non-infested.
